I decided to try Hello Fresh for the family as we are getting less adventurous or lazy with our meals and this service seems to be the perfect answer. So how does it work? You register and select your preferences on their website and set how often you want your deliveries. We chose to have a box of 3 meals for 2 people to be delivered once every month. At £39 per delivery, this is the best solution for us. You must choose your meals on Wednesday for Sunday delivery. If not, it will be randomly chosen for you. All I needed to do is top up some ingredients then I can serve 4 hungry people 🙂
Your box will arrive with recipes, fresh meat, fish, herbs and vegetables from their partner farms. The fresh produce is cocooned in wool with icepacks. Everything is packed so the heavy items are at the bottom and won’t crush the herbs and fragile items. Everything is labelled too and just the right quantities! No excesses there 🙂
The recipes are well written, simple and very easy to follow.
And having everything at hand, I use this as an excuse to get my kids to cook our meals 🙂
M1 cooking Tiger Prawns and Chorizo Spaghetti with Fresh Vine Tomatoes (see picture below)
Surprisingly Filling Mexican Broth with Spicy Beef and Beans
Smokey Cod with roasted new potatoes, Chorizo Dressing and caramelised courgettes
Have we found favourites? Yes we did! We loved the Korean Beef Bulgogi with ginger stir fried broccoli and Paprikas Csirke. We like the other recipes but so far, these two are loved by all 4 of us 🙂
So my overall verdict? Considering that I can make budget meals for 4 for £25 per week, this is on the expensive side. However, it is very convenient, the recipes are easy to follow, they supply fresh and good quality ingredients and the meals are tasty. So yes, it is worth a try. And make sure you keep an eye on the delivery calendar on their website if you don’t fancy having a weekly delivery.
